"The need of the Second Amendment will be

Evident when they attempt to take it away."

Thomas Jefferson

The Federalist Papers.

The above quote, by Thomas Jefferson, is more applicable today then when  was penned over two hundred years ago.

Here is the  problem people. Many people in American Media believe groups like the National Rifle Association are intrinsically evil because they only defend certain parts of the U.S. Constitution, specifically the Second Amendment. These very same people opine  that groups like the American Civil Liberties Union are innately good; because they support some parts of the U.S. Constitution.

Anti-gun/pro-gun control groups rightly state, and a reading of a good U.S. History book (published prior to 1970), generally accept the fact that  many of the early American Colonists did know how to use a firearm or even own a gun.  One little fact, seldom brought out in your High School/University history is this: the first conflicts of the American Revolution were not fought over taxation! These engagements: Lexington/Concord and the Battle of Bunker Hill (actually Breed's Hill) were fought because the oppressive Royal government was attempting to confiscate firearms and powder supplies from "the Colonials." Many of these "Colonials" were not involved in the protests against the Crown. The Revolutionaries, or as they were later entitled, "Minute Men," took up arms  because they lived in the boon docks and the early American settlers faced attack by Indian tribes bent on robbery, murder or worse.

We face the same thing today. No, not attacks by marauding wild Indians, but bands of criminals and dysfunctional social variants bent on robbery, rape and murder. The local governmental law enforcement agencies chime in and say "we can protect you." Even the Supreme Court stated," The police are not obligated to protect you if you call for help."  Case in point, the Sutter County Sheriff's Department.  Just stop by the Carl's Junior on Bridge Street in Yuba City. When the local deputies are not selling drugs from their patrol car, or planting illegal wiretaps and video surveillance or stalking their ex-wives, they are busy sucking down Super Stars.

If you believe the State mantra that "Crime rates are on the decline," then just look at the overwhelming majorities that many of the "anti-crime" ballot initiatives  that passed, by overwhelming majorities,  in Sutter County and in the  State since 1978.  Look at the number of Concealed Weapons Permits that are issued in many rural counties. The liberals sit atop their Ivory Tower and look at statistics---they should be looking on the streets to see just how wrong they are.

When a member of our group took Statistics/Economics at U.C. Davis, his professor said, "Statistics don't lie...liars use statistics." This is true when organizations like the Federal Bureau of Investigation and State and local officials when they tout statistics to prove "Crime Rates are on the Decline." The problem with many of our "leaders" is they dwell in their Ivory Tower and say, "Crime is down." This is reminiscent of Nevill Chamberlain; who in 1939, upon exiting an airplane, held  held a piece of paper in his hand and stated, "With this treaty, I assure you, we will have peace in our time." It did not take too long for Herr Hitler to invade Poland, start World War Two which lead to the death of well over fifty million people. The next step is this. As they show us on television, fancy graphics and all, that  "Crime rates are down,"  they think to themselves,  "Now that crime is down we need to do something about all these guns". They write regulations to further control  your ability to purchase a weapon. If you just think we are a bunch of "Bubba's" then chew on the following.

The above are just highlights to show how Government has incrementally legislated away rights, privileges and immunities that we enjoy under the U.S. Constitution. There have been a lot more of these types of legislation; including, but not limited to the size of an ammo clip, types of bullets and length of a rifle and a plethora of other laws they make it so difficult, and expensive,  for a person to purchase a weapon for self-defense, hunting and just plain old going to a firing range and popping off a few, so that many decent and law abiding citizens just gives up purchasing a fire arm.

In 1974, members of the anti-gun lobbies in Time Magazine said,  "We know that we will not be able to take your guns away from you outright, so we will do it a little bit at a time." This is exactly what the anti gun groups have accomplished.

These people have limited your ability to purchase no more than one firearm per month, the type of firearm you can purchase, your ability to obtain a concealed weapon

It's coming folks ...watch out..

I saw a tee shirt that said it all....."What is the difference between a citizen and a subject. A citizen owns guns ...a subject does not."
