Cute animation! Well the events of September 11, 2001 were not. Just what the hell happened? We have to start a long time ago to find the seeds that were planted that produced this crop of destruction.
Frank Church. Remember him? He was the liberal U.S. Senator from Idaho (and one time Presidential candidate). He was the chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee. During the 1970's he was upset that the Central Intelligence Agency had tried to have Fidel Castro killed by some rather unsavory individuals (specifically members of organized crime families in New York). As history shows us to this day, Castro is still alive and well and using the Mafia (MAFIA is actually a Sicilian acronym for Get the French out of Sicily), did not work very well. The Mafia was mad at Castro because when Castro took over Cuba, he kept all that Mafia money. The CIA, recognizing this little fact decided to hire the Mafia to "whack" Fidel. The Mafia may not get their money back, but they would get a sense of satisfaction of knowing the guy who crossed them would be dead. In addition, t he CIA hoped that Castro's demise would usher in a new revolution (headed by "our people") and the Western Hemisphere would be safe from the communist threat. Well, the Mafia may be good at "whacking" some old "stool pigeon" eating a plate of spaghetti in Jack Dempsey's restaurant, but their efforts fell far short in riding our planet of Castro. So Senator Church and his liberal friends put an end to the CIA using (actually paying) members of groups to do their dirty work and provide intelligence. Enter Jimmy Carter.
Mr. Peanut (Carter) and his head of the CIA, Stansfield Turner, tore apart the CIA's site teams. Site teams and their members are the people that are out in the field, talking to people, gathering intelligence and working on infiltrating groups. These field agents were the people who provided the necessary information that our government needed to control and keep track of the threats to our national security. The liberal socialist Democrats hate spying, and during the Carter Administration and the Church Committee hearings, they made the CIA as effective as spying on the Kremlin from Alaska with a pair of binoculars. It takes years to put a site team member in place. You do not just drop a guy into place. When Reagan became president, the CIA was in bad shape, there were few field agents in place. Rather than spend years to get the necessary information to see what the USSR was up to, Reagan simply outspent the Russians and they capitulated and collapsed under the weight of their corrupt system. Let us return to the current situation.
We need to (actually it should have started years ago) start the business of spying. It's dirty business and it is dangerous. People get killed. But the loss of one or two people beats the destruction of September 11, 2001. If you don't think our enemies are doing it to us, then you are living in the Polly Anna world of Jimmy Carter and Stansfield Turner.
Our enemies are amongst us, right this very minute. Working to end freedom, liberty and our way of life. One of the terrorist/hijackers, one Mohammed Atta, was a "religious fanatic for hire" (kicked out of Pakistan), settled in Jordan and was a prime suspect in the bombing of a school bus in Israel in 1986. Atta had a history of targeting civilians. While he was in Pakistan, Atta was a suspect in the bombing of a Hindu temple in India. One of the reasons he departed from Pakistan was the Indian government wanted Atta and reasonable government officials in Pakistan (I am actually shocked that a reasonable man in Pakistan was found) were willing to hand him over to the India. The Moussad (Israeli spy agency), wanted Atta and notified the CIA. Atta's name was placed on a "watch list" and this information was give to the FBI and the Immigration and Naturalization Service, yet this barbarian gets into this country where set up a safe base of operation and the rest, as they say, is history. We need to rethink several important issues in this country. Unfettered Immigration and spying on our enemies are just two issues where we can start.
